How a quiet safety net works.

Install once, grant permissions once, then forget about it. Crossguard runs in the background and only speaks up when there is something to say.

01

Detects driving on its own

No "start trip" button. A speed-and-duration check decides when you are actually driving, so the app stays silent while you walk, bike, or ride a train past the same intersections.

02

Watches the road ahead

While driving, location accuracy steps up and the app continuously compares your trajectory against the local danger map — running on your device, never streamed to a server.

03

Alerts before you arrive

About twenty seconds out from a known danger zone you receive a brief audio cue, a gentle haptic, and a visual marker — calibrated to warn, not startle.

04

Falls back asleep

Park the car, walk away, and the app drops back to a low-power passive mode within minutes. Battery cost over a quiet afternoon is under one percent.

Three risk tiers, drawn from the data.

Every alert is backed by a specific record. We classify locations using NHTSA's Fatality Analysis Reporting System and matching state DOT incident logs. No black box, no "AI score" — just counts.

Tier Criteria What you see
High ≥ 2 fatal collisions in 9 yrs Audio cue, strong haptic, persistent map marker.
Medium ≥ 1 serious injury, no fatalities Soft chime, brief haptic, transient map marker.
Low ≥ 3 reported incidents, minor Visual marker only — no audio, no haptic.
Privacy posture

Your route never leaves your phone.

  • On-device only. Crash data ships with the app. Your GPS coordinates are matched locally — nothing is uploaded.
  • No accounts. No sign-in, no profile, no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs.
  • No tracking. We do not record where you have been, when, or for how long.
  • Open data, open methodology. The records we use are public; the matching rules are documented above.

A crossing guard at every intersection.

Crossguard is shipping to iOS and Android in 2026. Drop your email below and we will write you once — when it is on the App Store. That is the only message you will ever get from us.
